Mind, the step.

For the third consecutive year, New Year’s Eve arrived, and I found myself in the familiar situation of realizing I hadn’t written a single word all year. With only a few hours left to change that — much like the previous years — I faced a question: Did I really need to? No doubt that the holidays were enjoyable, laughed a little more than the mundane evenings, yet another year slipping by without a single complete sentence in my notes.

Reflecting on this, I wondered, how did I reach this point? When did blogging shift from an outlet to an obligation? Were there no purposes left, no captivating topics to explore? Was it merely a part of a routine I found myself stuck in? These questions hovered over without clear answers, but deep down, I hold onto the belief that writing is a truly rewarding experience.

The pivotal question remains: has writing undergone an evolution? In an era where tweeting allows the expression of immediate thoughts in a space that feels free and liberal, I find it challenging to confine myself to a character limit every time. Writing, after all, emanates from within. This evolution marks a shift from books to read to screens to watch, from pens to write to keys to type. Yet, in this transformation, one can’t help but wonder: where is the essence, the feeling?

These questions push me to hit the ‘RESTART THE GAME’ from the menu in my inactive brains. It wasn’t planned for late January, or even planned at all until a motivating post on LinkedIn crossed my feed. Despite its abstract and ambiguous nature, this is a restart, and I hope to not stop again!
